Corey Cole wrote:

"Quest for Glory II definitely did *not* use the SCI1 interpreter that Sierra used for King's Quest V and the other 256-color EGA games. That interpreter did not have a parser, so could not handle typed input at all. If they internally called QfG2's interpreter 'SCI1', it was just a PR thing - It was not the same interpreter.

"As to *why* QfG2 used the parser and EGA graphics, it's because all of Sierra's other games were running late. Sierra needed a major release for Christmas 1990, and we were the sacrificial lamb. (I think it was partially because I did not fight as hard as Mark Crowe - The choice was between QfG2 and SQ3 as to which game would ship early, but with 16-color graphics.)"

Synopsis

After your victory at Spielburg, you wish the valley a fond 'adieu' and fly off with kattas and Abdulla Doo. Abdulla Doo - who's he, says you? Play QG2, and you'll know too! :-)

But the land of Shapier is in dire trouble, for a mysterious wizard is making war by proxy on the town of Shapier, using dire elementals to bend it to his will. Can YOU step up to fend off this fearful threat?

With three classes, again, to choose from - warrior, mage or thief - plus all the ability points to assign at will, you can create and play the hero of Shapier - and even, if you're very good, become an honourable Paladin. Best of all, each class offers different ways to solve the game, and you can export your last hero to continue the quest.

So shake the sand from your boots, and don't forget your sunscreen. Can YOU survive the Trial by Fire?
