Description

Lori Cole and Corey Cole's Quest for Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness is a 1993 SCI2 Adventure/RPG game. It is the forth installment in the Quest for Glory Series. The MPC CD-ROM re-release is the first talkie of the series. It is also the last developed in SCI.


Synopsis

You have defended Fricana and slain the evil - but at a cost. You now find yourself in a mysterious cave, with nothing but the clothes you wear. Worse still, out there are hideous creatures that roam the valley of Mordavia, both by day and by night. A conspiracy is underway to cover Mordavia in the Shadows of Darkness forever.

Can YOU, brave hero, uncover the menacingly meddling malefactors? Can you save the soul of Erana, or the souls of the distrusting but simple villagers of Mordavia? For if you cannot, all will surely perish...

With three classes again to choose from - warrior, mage or thief (plus Paladin, if you were one in the previous game) - plus all the ability points to assign at will, you can be the hero you always wished to be. Best of all, each class offers different ways to solve the game, and you can export your last hero to continue the quest.

So watch out for the swamp mud and prepare to battle true evil. Can YOU hold the Shadows of Darkness at bay?


About

The original floppy release was known for its many bugs. Most of these were addressed with the CD-ROM re-release, however, several timer bugs remained that are precipitated on faster PCs. The after market, fan made NewRisingSun patches fix most of the timer bugs.
