Chris Cole and Shawn Bird's Johnny Castaway Screen Antics is a 1992 Windows 3x screensaver developed by Jeff Tunnell Productions.

Synopsis

Follow marooned ship wrecked Johnny Castaway's daily antics as he hopes for his rescue. Witness day fading into night, season into season. Year after year. Will he survive? Will he be rescued or will he spend one more Christmas alone on his tiny deserted island. Will that ship in the distance see and rescue him? Will he maintain his sanity?

Johnny Castaway was the first product created by Jeff Tunnell Productions an offshoot of Sierra/Dynamix, . Johnny Castaway is a screen saver where Johnny is stranded on a deserted island where he has daily adventures wrestling sharks and fighting seagulls. In between adventures Johnny walks around, scratches his head and sleeps.

For the game Johnny Castaway I (Shawn Bird) was asked to create a character that was weathered but likable. Sierra still gets e-mail from folks that love this product which was one of the first Windows screen savers (note the use of the 16 standard windows colors in the screen shots (right). Designing the Johnny character was my only contribution to this product. I moved onto Turbo Science that was released later the next year.
