Games that falsely claim MT-32 compatibility

The following games claim to be MT-32 compatible but in fact are not. The most common case is that they allow MT-32 or compatible devices to be chosen as configuration options, but they play General MIDI music instead:

References

  1. Requires Roland MPU-401 "intelligent mode" features.
  2. Uses additional sound effects only found on the MT-32 compatible CM (Computer music) modules, such as the CM-32L, CM-64, CM-500, and LAPC-I.
  3. Incompatible with MT-32 (Old), producing buffer overflows and causing broken sound or firmware lock-ups. See talk page for a DOSBox workaround.
  4. Exploits software bugs of MT-32 (Old) modules' firmware; will on some occasions sound wrong on later-generation modules.
  5. Non-MT-32 sound output device for which the music is known to have been originally composed.
