Lori Cole wrote:
Wages of War was inserted into the series because of many factors. We did Hero's Quest, but then changed the name entirely to Quest for Glory for the sequel.[1][2][3] Instead of going directly to game three, we spent two years on children's games. Now since Shadows of Darkness was always supposed to have a darker, grittier mood, and the momentum of the series was never really established, we decided to do Wages of War instead to recapture the essence of the heroic adventure before we broke the adventure tropes with Shadows.
