About

Western New York’s Premiere Big Band[1] wrote:

Tim Clarke grew up in Eugene, Oregon where he began learning the cornet at the age of 10. After graduating high school he studied music at the University of Oregon. As an undergraduate, Tim was a frequent arranger for the Oregon Marching Band and Basketball Band, as well as a 3-year member (trumpet, arranger) of the Green Garter Band, a full-scholarship, student-run, 12-piece band that performed at numerous events for the Athletic Department. Tim continued his studies at the University of Oregon as a Graduate Teaching Fellow in Jazz Studies and Music Theory, where he was an award-winning arranger and trumpet soloist for the University of Oregon Jazz Ensemble I and Combo I. During this time, Tim won a DownBeat Magazine Student Music Award (“Best Original Song/Composition”), received a National Endowment for the Arts Grant to study Jazz Arranging with Clare Fischer in Los Angeles, and published Jazz Ensemble arrangements and compositions through Matrix Publishing and UNC Jazz Press.

Tim began his career in music production in 1992 as a staff composer/sound designer for Dynamix Inc., a subsidiary of Sierra Studios. In 1995, Tim and a business partner formed a company providing audio production services for many well-known video game companies, and in 2000, Tim formed his own company, Score Music and Sound Design.

In 2007, Tim acquired a music production position at Fisher-Price, Inc., moving in July of that year with his family to East Aurora, NY where he and his family currently reside. Tim continues to freelance as a jazz and commercial trumpet player throughout the Western New York area. Additionally, Tim is a featured trumpet player with the Oregon Festival of American Music, where he has performed with Dick Hyman, Frank Wess, Ken Peplowski, Peter Appleyard, Bill Watrous, Harry Allen, Marty Grosz, Randy Sandke, Byron Stripling, Dave Frishberg, Howard Alden, Chuck Redd, Greg Cohen, and many other world-class musicians.
