Resource Tools

Patches

  • Official Quest for Glory 4 Patch   ZIP File [19.4 KB]
         For floppy version only. Resolves:
    • Fixes import issues. If the game cannot understand some of the statistics in the character SAV file, it will prompt you to enter a value. You may enter any number from 100-300.
  • Official Quest for Glory 4 Import Patch (QG4NOTE)   ZIP File [19.8 KB]
         For floppy version only. Resolves:
    • The patch fixes the order of events in the Hero's bedroom so that important events are certain to occur. In particular, the Hero should awaken from a dream to find a note signed "Katrina" 1-3 nights after rescuing Tanya. If this event does not occur, the game cannot be completed. To recover, install this patch, then restore to a saved game before Hero has rescued Tanya from the castle.
This patch is compatible with all saved games EXCEPT games saved in the Hero's bedroom at the Inn.
For floppy version only. Resolves:
  • Polygon problems, to include "purge is not a selector for glory", have been fixed.
  • Fatal "Assertion Failure" during saving has been fixed.
  • Fatal at the Monk's Tomb has been fixed.
  • Fatal at the Thieves Guild main safe is fixed.
  • Fatal when Restoring from the Burning Gypsy death message has been fixed.
  • Fatal lockup when Ego is caught by Ad Avis has been fixed.
  • Fatal in the swamp, when jumping from hummock to land
  • Saved game size and restore time has been decreased.
  • Several cosmetic changes to help improve the look and feel of the game.

New Installer

Works with either floppy or CD versions. If installing the CD version, it will install the entire CD game to the hard drive for CD-less play. If installing the floppy version, be sure you have DOSBox installed in Program Files\DOSBox before running installer. If you do not, you must be online to when you install the game to allow the installer to download and install DOSBox for you or the audio file will not be decompressed. To accommodate PCs without a floppy drive, for the floppy version this installer is designed to work by using the files from the original media copied to the harddrive. Because some files are named the same, the files from multiple disks often need to be kept separate to avoid overwriting each other. To install these games:
  • Create a temporary folder on the hard drive.
  • Inside this folder, create a numbered folder for each disk, i.e. "1" for disk 1, "2" for disk 2, etc. one for each disk.
  • Copy the contents (files and folders) of each disk into its appropriately numbered folder,
  • Copy DOSBox installer for the game into the same temporary folder.
  • Run the installer from this same folder.
