Trivia

  • The identity of the "gremlin", who played several pranks on Sergeant Dooley in this game, is revealed in the next game, Police Quest 2: The Vengeance (1988) to be officer Laura Watts, according to her file in the station computer.
  • The photo in license of the drunk driver Art Searbain is of Al Lowe, one of the game programmers and the creator of Leisure Suit Larry game series. The character is named after Al's close friend and mentor.
  • Out of the 245 points possible, you can beat the game in as little as 168 points. There are several things you do not have to do, such as writing and submitting a memo. If you do not do this, the memo will read "due to a manpower shortage, Bonds is now a detective", etc. Also, you do not have to get a warrant to keep Taselli in jail. Captain Morgan will tell you that Taselli used a fake ID to escape from jail. Not using the radio unless you have to, looking in your pigeonhole, and examining Taselli's car (trunk, glove box, paint, etc) are also not necessary.

There are no "cheat codes" in Police Quest 1 as such, but you can activate the game's debug mode and you can then change the game's variable values to whatever you’d like.
