Description
A keydisk is a uncopyable diskette that must be inserted into a computer in order to run a particular program. The key disk does not contain the whole program, only an essential part of it. Key disks are sometimes used so that a single licensed program can be installed on multiple machines but only used on one of them at a time or to prevent a protected game from being copied.
Some keydisks used a non standard track a hidden, uncopyable track with a essential part of the game's launcher, which if not found will warn the user to insert the original game disk to proceed.
