Version History

Development Status

SCI Resources Dumper is no longer actively maintained.

Usage

SCIResDump [/Type_modifiers] [/nVolume] resource_map_file_name [DumpIndex]

Options

Where Data_type_modifiers is an optional switches to force specified formats of map file/volume file/packing methods use. Available modifiers listed below, each modifier should be followed by version id: 1 - for SCI1 format and 3 - for SCI32 format.

Available modifiers is:

/m - force SCI1 or SCI32 map file format (5 or 6 bytes per ID entry)
 /v - force SCI1 or SCI32 volume format (9 or 13 bytes per header)
/p - force SCI1 or SCI32 decompression method (PKWDCL or STAC)
/h - to add patch file header to dumped files

Volume - can be optionally specified in case of non-standard name (ex, it you have volume named ressci.pat, use switch /nressci.pat)

DumpIndex - number of particular resource in volume. If absent - just display list of all available resources without unpacking. If -1 - unpack all resources.

Important note:
Resources extracted without the /h parameter in the command line doesn't contain patch file header. Do not put them in same directory where interpreter's .exe located to avoid game crashes.

Examples of use:

  in: SCIResDump resmap.000
out: Display list of all resources in volume, associated with resmap.000

  in: SCIResDump resource.map 5
out: Extract resource #5 from volume associated with resource.map

  in: SCIResDump resource.map 5 /m3
out: Same as above, but force SCI32-unpacking method

When dumping volume contends, you can use output redirection to save output into file.

Known issues

  • Currently, only later SCI1 and all SCI32 volume formats supported. Due to very many different SCI editions used by Sierra, in some cases you need to provIDE my dumper additional information to process volume correctly. SCI dumper will try to determinate possible format automatically, but it can't guess all `transit` formats.
